2020 Leon Forrest Lecture Canceled
March 11, 2020
Evanston, IL—The Department of African American Studies announced on Wednesday that it is canceling the 2020 Leon Forrest Lecture, which was scheduled to be delivered on April 8th by Professor Imani Perry of Princeton.
Though this was an incredibly difficult decision, the department has chosen to follow Northwestern University President Morton Schapiro’s recommendation that no large events or gatherings be hosted on campus until after April 15th for precautionary reasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are sorry to miss hosting Imani Perry, but we hope to invite her back sometime soon,” said Chair Martha Biondi.
The department will provide updates on post-April 15th events once decisions have been made on whether or not to hold them.
